Strategic communications & partnerships for arts, culture and philanthropy.
I am a London-based strategic communications and partnerships consultant working across the arts, culture, philanthropy and education sectors, both across the UK and internationally.
Annabel Hoyng - van der Meijden
What I do
I advise organisations - including museums, galleries, foundations and creative businesses - on strategic communications and partnerships, with a focus on strategy development, brand positioning, narrative development, advocacy and reputation management.
My work centres on helping organisations define their voice, strengthen reputation and build visibility through media and external affairs, thought leadership and stakeholder engagement.
I also support the development of philanthropic and creative partnerships that drive growth and cultural impact, including private philanthropy and fundraising, working with both cultural organisations and brands to build meaningful partnerships.
Annabel Hoyng Consulting can support you on:
-
Effective communication begins with a strategy and narrative aligned with your brand positioning.
I advise on strategic communications and communication strategy development. Working in close collaboration with leadership teams, I start with defining your brand positioning through research, including internal and external perception audits, benchmarking and audience insights, framing them within the political, economic and societal developments shaping your sector.
With these insights, I support brand narrative development, define advocacy themes and create a tactical roadmap for integrated communication campaigns across your key communication channels.
-
Leaders are the most powerful catalysts for an organisation’s reputation and influence.
I advise on executive positioning and thought leadership, helping senior leaders define their voice and profile. I work with you to elevate the visibility of your leadership on advocacy themes, ensuring alignment with your brand positioning and communication strategy.
I advise on content that showcases your expertise and write impactful editorial pieces - including keynote speeches, opinion pieces and multi-channel content - to position your leadership as trusted voices within your sector.
-
Reputations are best managed with foresight.
Taking a proactive approach to reputation management, I advise organisations on identifying and mitigating potential reputational risks before they escalate.
Through horizon scanning, issue mapping, preparing holding statements and developing crisis communication protocols, I ensure organisations are prepared to navigate complex challenges while protecting institutional reputation.
-
Your public narrative and influence are shaped through strategic engagement with media and key stakeholders, including peers, partners and policymakers.
I advise on media relations and external affairs, including media strategy, journalist engagement and stakeholder relations, supporting organisations to build credibility and visibility. I translate organisational milestones into stories that resonate across media, digital and sector platforms, and design campaigns that build momentum - whether to attract audiences to a new exhibition, influence political debate or raise awareness of philanthropic partnerships.
Leveraging a network of media and sector stakeholders, nationally and internationally, I ensure your stories achieve reach and impact.
-
Partnerships are most effective when they are grounded in shared values and mutual benefit.
I advise cultural organisations, foundations and brands on shaping and sustaining private philanthropy, corporate partnerships and creative collaborations, spanning values-led donor engagement, brand-aligned partnerships and idea-led collaboration.
From defining a value proposition and partnerships narrative to developing concepts and programmes, I help build clear, compelling cases for support that strengthen cultural impact, reputation and fundraising. I also support donor engagement and stewardship, building lasting relationships with patrons that underpin long-term philanthropic growth.
I partner with organisations in the way that best suits their needs - whether acting as an independent advisor, a sounding board for senior leadership, or a member of your team.
I provide both high-level counsel and hands-on execution, and am available for project-based commissions or long-term interim roles.
My approach is structured, collaborative, and grounded in years of experience across global communications agencies and advisory firms, and a deep understanding of the cultural sector.
